I love when you rediscover something simple that you love.

I haven't had Lucky Charms in eons, but I bought some the other day. Ah, the simple things in life.

It makes me nostalgic for the old mashmallow shapes. Pink hearts, yellow moons, blue stars, green clovers, where oh where did you go?

What I really miss are Mashmallow Rice Krispies. Remember those? I loved the contrast of rice kirispies with mashmallow pieces. Of course after a while they went and changed the way the mashmallows tasted, and they weren't quite as good.

Best cereal of all time is still Frankenberry. Which of course they don't sell here, at all. Anywhere. Boo.

So here's what's going on....

I'm going to be switching anti-depressants, coz the one I am currently on is not very effective.

I'm currently on Effexor, which, if you know anti-depressants, you know has a horrible withdrawl.

I should be okay the next couple weeks, while tapering off (okay as in same as I am now). Maybe just more moody and emotional, so bare with me.

When I am off it completely, well, it will probably be pretty rough. Hopefully for no more than a week. I'll be tapering onto the new drug by then, so that should blunt it a little.

Anyway, things should be okay, just might take a few weeks to get back to real me-ness.

I have a cold. Yay. (That was sarcasm. Haha).

That is one of the disadvantages to working in schools. So many people to pick things up from. So I woke up with a sore throat and lots of plegmy icky congestion. Fun!

We have a rain warning for today. Maybe we'll get some thunder and lightening? There hasn't been thunder and lightening in eons. Well, a few months anyway!

Hope people need to post. The witches are rocking, but what happened to everyone else?

You scored as Deer. You are the Deer. You tend to be very gentle with other animals of your domain and are also considered the innocent one, which is a good thing. You tend to be able to perceive more than others, which is a handy skill.

Someone set a fire in the toaster oven in the staff room at lunch which resulted in the fire extinguisher being used which ended with the staff room smelling like smoke and fire extinushier stuff all lunch.

And that about sums up my day.

I am glad February is over because it has been a rather depressing month.

And I'm feeling down and want to shop. Want to buy Bratz coz they are my obsession du jour and I needwant more.

I stayed up too late last night watching the Oscars. Is it just me or was it dullsville city? Not up to par with other years for sure. Not sure why I even stayed up. I guess coz once I started I couldn't stop.

Blah.

Even if I'm going to be spending my night home, like a hermit, marking, I hope you all have a lovely day!

Forget all the commercialism, and just celebrate love, pure and simple!

School was cancelled today!!

It wasn't as big a storm as they had called for (but then around here it never is, coz we're right on the ocean), but it was enough to make a mess of things so they closed the schools. It makes me a happy girl, because I slept terribly last night. So as soon as I heard the news at 6am this morning it was back to sleep for me! And now I am all rested with a day to myself!

First I am going to do the bit of school work that I need to - to get it out of the way. Just some lesson stuff, as my supervisor is in to watch me on Wednesday and I want to make sure that things will go relatively smoothly.

Then I will read some (my Marianne Curley books came yesterday!! Yay!!) and perhaps watch a movie.

It will be a lovely, lazy day. I think I won't even get out of my pajamas. Because I don't plan to see anyone but the cat today and she doesn't care what I wear :P

I don't care how many people tell me how bad a movie Troy was. I liked it. Sure, it won't win any acting awards and sure it might have trampled on the myths a bit but hush. The love story between Achilles and Briesis is sweet and Orlando Bloom is hot and what more does a girl need? :P

Still hoping for that blizzard. Time for snow dances!

Ah today I got to break up my first fight in school. Okay, so it was just two grade sevens shoving each other, but still. Then I got to escort them down to the office.

But today was pretty good. There was a sub in today, and yet the kids weren't any rowdier than usual. I take that as a good sign.

One of the girls said to me today "You're so nice. I wish you were all the teachers." That was a big 'awww' moment.

And the kids were giggling at how I lisp the word 'thesaurus'. Yes, I lisp certain words. You should hear me say 'photosynthesis' (boy the kids got a kick out of that one last year!).

I am so excited for the first season of Degrassi Junior High to come out on DVD in February. Eee!

I am at school, taking a wee break during my prep period. I taught for most of the morning, and I have an hour class to teach in as short bit. It should be a pretty good class, they're usually fairly well behaved.

It's quite chilly outside today. Makes me want to snuggle up in bed and read and not come out until Spring. Too bad that's not an option eh?

What day of the week is Lost on? I keep meaning to give it a try as it sounds interesting, but I always miss it. These days, the only thing I watch regularly is The Simpsons. Because it's on about every five minutes :P

I have done well on my New Years resolution (to stop spending so much money) thus far. Yes, I know it hasn't even been two weeks, but still. I've spent money on rent and bills and groceries, but aside from that, hardly anything. Oh, my Christmas pictures, I got those developed. And bought a few comics. But that's it! So yay me! Well okay I had to buy a suit but that's for interview purposes. Blech. And I have to have the skirt hemed, because I don't like skirts touching my knees. Yes, I'm odd.

I have kids in for detention again today - yes, I'm a toughie ;) I'll get through to them yet. And I have a staff meeting, which will be rather dull, I think, but I have to go, as part of the 'learning experience'.

Does anyone know of any stones that are good for sleep, aside from amythest? Amythest tends to give me wonky, unpleasent dreams about things (read: people) I don't want to be dreaming of. I'm having problems with iron deficiency (again! yes, I know it happens for us veggies hehe.. and us women, so double whammy), which, among other things, make me tired all the time, and yet I don't sleep well. Blerm.

Well, the kidlets will be here soon, so off I go!

I'm at school. Just finished holding detention for a few students, and am now waiting for the bus, indoors where it is not cold and potentially snowy.

Heh heh I liked the response I got about the Anita Blake books entry. Nice to know I'm not the only one who's noticed the extreme drop in quality, plot and characterisation. The English minor in me has a hard time reading through her works without going 'what?'.

It's so hard to have a proper conversation about LKH these days. So many people use the 'well if you don't like them, stop reading' arguement. But I did like them, very much, and I don't like what's happened to the characters - they've all become so flat and one dimensional. I don't like what's happened to the plot (or lack thereof). I miss Animators Inc, and Anita when she was cool because she was just a lowly mortal who could kick butt. And I miss proper grammer! And would someone please tell Laurell to stop recycling the same phrases and descriptions over and over and over again? Yeesh! For us with very very good memory for written text, it becomes a bit dull. *L*

I also dislike when people are like "oh, you don't like them cause you're a prude". Um, no? Hardly. I like sex in my books, but I like a plot too. Otherwise I'd head for the harlequin romance section n'est-ce pas?

Had the AB and MG books started out as such and stayed the same, that would be one thing. But they started out as something lovely, and descended into a poor excuse for supernatural novels. Which is why I've stopped reading AB, for I'd prefer to remember them as they were. And judging on the third MG book, that will be the end of that for me.

Thankfully, there are so many other lovely books and authors out there!!

Anyway.

Was supposed to have a staff meeting after school, but it has been postponed until tomorrow. Which is good for today - not so good for tomorrow! I have most of my prep work done for my classes tomorrow, so there will only be a small bit to do tonight - yay!

Well, I must run and catch my bus. Toodles!
